UK-based Trinifold Group, run by manager Bill Curbishley and
partner Robert Rosenberg, has been acquired by The Sanctuary
Group, which has offices in London and New York. The $12.5 million
(£8 million) cash and stock deal includes Trinifold Management,
Trinifold Music and Estupendo Records. Another $20.3 million
(£13 million) is payable over the next eight years, pending on
certain profit targets being met.
Curbishley and Rosenberg will remain on board, with Curbishley
continuing as managing director of Trinifold, which will
continue operating under that moniker.
Sanctuary, which manages Guns N' Roses, Iron Maiden, Pet Shop
Boys, Ray Davies and others, now adds The Who, Judas Priest,
Robert Plant and Jimmy Page and Operababes under its
umbrella.
"We have known and respected Bill Curbishley for many years and I am very
pleased to welcome him to Sanctuary," Sanctuary chairman Andy Taylor said. "e have also worked closely with many of
his managed artists over the years, most recently The Who at the concerts in
London to support the Teenage Cancer Trust. The quality of the artists managed,
along with Bill and his team, represent considerable value to Sanctuary's
offering."
"The way Sanctuary operates shows that music can remain a profitable business and that if the acts are properly looked after and allowed to flourish
creatively the fans will get the music they want," added Curbishley. "Trinifold has always been a
very artist friendly company and this is also very much the Sanctuary way. I
felt that this was the environment in which I wanted to continue my career and I
am very pleased to be working within Sanctuary and fully utilizing everything
the company has to offer to enhance the careers of our artists and the
advantages that economies of scale and specialized worldwide back up can bring.
All this while still retaining our independent image and day to day activities."
