A little over a month ago, we learned that 22-year-old Jinger Duggar, one of the many Duggar children, had begun courting a pro soccer player named Jeremy Vuolo. Courting is a big deal in Duggarville – courting is seen as a down payment on an engagement, and most of the Duggar kids only court one person their entire lives, because they marry the first and only person they court. Interestingly, Josiah Duggar’s courtship crashed and burned in the wake of Josh Duggar’s implosion last year, but that was the exception to the Duggar-courtship rule. As for Jinger, she’s already engaged. Like, Jinger and Jeremy got engaged within two months of courting.
Another Duggar is saying “I do!” PEOPLE can exclusively reveal that Jinger Duggar is engaged to former professional soccer player Jeremy Vuolo.
“So excited to share this news that we are now engaged,” the pair tell PEOPLE. “From both of us, thank you all for the countless well-wishes we’ve received during the courtship. We are so excited to take this next step in spending our lives together. We are so grateful for how the Lord has brought us together. It has been an incredible journey so far and we are excited about serving Christ together in the coming days.”
The news of their engagement comes just a month after Duggar and Vuolo announced they were officially courting (the only Duggar-approved way of dating), but the couple actually met last May.
Oh, I had forgotten that Jinger and Jeremy have actually known each other for more than a year. I do think that makes this less shady, somehow, plus Jeremy is friends with Jessa and Jill and their spouses. Basically, the family isn’t pushing Jinger to marry Some Dude she’s only known for a matter of weeks. It’s not THAT bad. Although I do wish all of the Duggar kids got a chance to actually date and have relationships and make love-related mistakes. Of course, I also wish the Duggars weren’t a thing, so whatever.
